Legal rights of Western Australian dog owners?

About 18 months ago, I bought a dog. I'm 20, live with my parents, but pay for the dog's food, bills, registration, etc. The dog is healthy and happy, and I had permission to buy it from my parents. Recently though, I had a falling out with my father, who is now trying to give my dog away as punishment. I'm really worried I will turn up from work or uni and find her gone. He says as it's his house, he can give her away, and moving out isn't an option for me. What sort of rights do I have?
