My husband said our car was totaled to hide it in divorce. Is this a crime?

He has told everyone that he rolled the car and that he accidentally let the insurance lapse to cover his tracks on why we got no settlement for it. He has a restraining order, and he is still claiming the car is a total loss even though I talked to the insurance agent and he has been paying on it and has never requested to have it removed from the policy after 8 months. I am going to the police so they can find the car. Will he get in trouble?
