What is Dharma and kartavya for men and women?

Plz describe naari and purush dharma.Is it mentioned in any book tht men should take care of outside and earn,and women should take care of home.I know world is changing lot but why women cant live the life like men or of her own style.is there any harm in not following women's religion or so called Nari dharma.
