Hindus; Why COW is so sacred in sanatana Dharma?

Cows actually aren't sacred in Hindu. There are no cow gods, cow shrines or temples to cows. Cows are actually one of the few animals that aren't sacred in Hindu. Besides, sacred is a Christian term if I'm not mistaken so it wouldn't apply to them if they were.
